2014 Linnean Society Medal Winners Announced
On Friday 23rd May 2014 the President of the Linnean Society of London presented a number of Medals and Prizes to celebrate the achievements of academics across the natural sciences. Below is a list of the medal and award winners...
Professor Niels Kristensen and Professor Walter Lack both received Linnean Medals awarded to biologists for service to science
Professor Dolph Schluter received the Darwin Wallace Medal awarded to persons who have made major advances in evolutionary biology.
Dr Bonnie Webster received the Bicentenary Medal awarded to a biologist under the age of 40 years in recognition of excellent work.
Dr Silvia Pressel received the Trail Crisp Medal in recognition of an outstanding contribution to biological microscopy that has been published in the UK.
Dr Simon Renny-Byfiled received the Irene Manton Prize awarded to a PhD student for the best botany thesis in an academic year.
Dr Orly Razgour received the John C Marsden Medal awarded for the best doctoral thesis in biology.
Ms Esmee Somers Winkel received the Jill Smythies Award, a prize of £1000 to a botanical artist for outstanding illustrations.
Sir Christopher Lever received the HH Bloomer Award awarded to an amateur naturalist for an important contribution to biological knowledge.
