Linnean Society Publications
The Linnean Society’s active publishing programme encompasses learned scientific journals - available both in print and searchable online formats - to fauna field guides, symposium volumes, as well as our quarterly newsletter The Linnean.
The Society's role as a catalyst for stimulating scientific discussion and debate in the life sciences is reflected in all our publications. The Biological Journal of the Linnean Society, published since 1858, well illustrates this. It is both one of the longest established biological journals in the world - evolving from the Society’s journal Proceedings, covering early papers by Darwin & Wallace - as well as today being an essential contemporary publication for all those currently working in the field. Likewise our zoology and botany journals.
The Society continues to exploit modern technology as part of our publishing and communications remit. For example, all of our journals (including back-issues) can be searched online. Search results for non-subscribers are limited to article abstracts - rather than the full-text otherwise available online to those with full subscriptions.
Our electronic publishing programme also encompasses our recently introduced email-based news & event updating service linnean-news (click here for further details).
Further details about all of our titles are publications are available on the menu links in this section (Journals, Faunas, Symposia, The Linnean).
