Step By Step

2023 marks the Linnean Society’s 150th anniversary in its home in New Burlington House. Built specifically for the Society and its needs, our home on London’s Piccadilly has provided a space for scientists, historians, artists and dedicated nature lovers to meet, research and collaborate from the Victorian era until the present day.

To celebrate, we have been working hard for the past year to ‘refresh’ our staircase by using the space to showcase our collections. We hope the images convey to our visitors a little bit more about who we are, and only serve to further enhance it as an inspiring, inclusive space.

To complement the new prints in the staircase, we have put together a collection of some of the sources of these prints in the library display cases, to show off even more of our collections and history. Please come take a look!

The Society's Library at Burlington House is open Tuesdays to Fridays, from 10am to 5pm. If you would like to make an appointment to view the Step by Step display, please contact us at library@linnean.org, or you are welcome to drop in, but please first check our website for any possible closures or changes to our opening times.
