Where's Wallace - LSF
This event is part of the London Science Festival.
Saturday 26th October 2013
11:00 - 12:00
Who was Wallace? Alfred Russel Wallace was a Victorian naturalist who independently developed a theory of evolution very similar to Charles Darwin’s – they even wrote to each other about it and Darwin was very impressed with Wallace’s work. He was also an avid explorer and collector: his ideas formed when searching for amazing specimens throughout the Amazon in South America and the Malay Archipelago.
100 years after his death, 2013 is ‘The Year of Wallace’ in the scientific world.
So, where’s Wallace? Now you can meet Wallace as he time travels to 2013. Join him in the jungle to help him locate and sort specimens and assist him in developing his theory of biogeography: why animals are found where they are in the world! Join in our family-based activities and learn more about Wallace and natural history.
An interactive, family show. For ages 6+
