LUNCHTIME LECTURE 12:30–13:00 Wednesday 6 May 2020

© The Linnean Society of London

The image we have in our own minds, of some of our eminent past Fellows is often influenced by the latter years portraits: gentile, statesmanly, (mainly) gentlemen sitting benignly behind their desks. Using the Society's collection to illustrate the talk Glenn Benson, our Curator of Artefacts, will explore the actual lives of endeavour, endurance, hardship, valour and adventure that some of our past Fellows of eminence truly faced.

Glenn Benson FLS is the Curator of Artefacts at the Linnean Society of London. He also is the Premises Manager at the Victoria and Albert Musuem. He currently provides collections management guidance to Nottinghamshire Mining Museum Mansfield. Glenn's interests cover arts, culture and heritage, science, the history of museum collecting, 20th century studio pottery, the natural world, and the history of natural history.

  • This event is free and open to all.
  • Doors will open at 12:15.
  • Tea will be served in the Library following the event.
