Darwin’s Bards: British and American Poetry in the Age of Evolution
A Linnean Lunchtime Lecture
12:30 Wednesday 1st October 2014
Poets have long found inspiration for their work in the natural world, and in turn poetry has provided humans with a way of comprehending the huge variety of life on earth.
But how have advances in science changed the way poets deal with nature and what can poetry tell us about our understanding of planet earth?
Join us today as Dr John Robert Holmes, author of Darwin's Bards: British and American Poetry in the Age of Evolution, explores the link between verse and nature.
Linnean Lunchtime Lectures are free and open to all.
Doors open at 12:00 and tea and coffee will be served in the library following the event.
