Library & Archives

The Linnean Society’s Library holds outstanding historical works of Natural History, and is a major repository for information on plant and animal classification, as well as the life and work of Carl Linnaeus. Our Archives include important manuscript and correspondence collections, illustrations, portraits and photographs.

Our Online Collections currently include Linnaeus’ Specimen Collections (Insects, Fish and Shells) and Herbarium, as well as his Correspondence.

The Library  is open to Fellows and the general public free of charge. Please contact us before planning a visit to ensure space, staff and materials are available.
