The Discovery Room is the Linnean Society's dedicated space for more intimate engagement with natural history, whether that's through roundtable meetings, CPD workshops or art courses.
Did you know?
The Discovery Room is also home to a very special set of books - the Darwin-Wallace Collection, which includes a first edition of On the Origin of Species.
The paint is drying on the walls... come back soon for more information about upcoming events.

One day painting course at the Linnean - 10th April 2018
Historically, botanical paintings were made from looking at pressed plants - this class will explore that process and work from pressed examples along with a selection of the Society's insects, herbarium sheets and shells.
This watercolour workshop started with a special viewing of the Linnaean collections in the vault, along with an exploration of some original artwork in the beautiful library, and participants then worked on drawing the specimens in the newly built Discovery Room.
