The Library

The Library provides an impressive location for conference and meeting refreshment breaks.  The room is a classic double cube design, with classical pillars rising to the roof and two galleries running along the sides.  The ceiling of engraved glass has recently been restored to its original Victorian pattern.  The Society's main collection of books on natural history is shelved in recessed bays around the sides of the room.  Portraits include various representations of Carl Linnaeus and there are oil paintings of Sir Joseph Banks and Sir James Edward Smith, founder of the Society.

Hire of the Library is only available in conjunction with other rooms.  A charge of £230 is made for day time use of the Library.

Please note that availability is at the discretion of the Librarian.
